Rosemary
AromaticModerate longevity
Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) is steam-distilled into an oil that smells of fresh, camphoraceous herbs with a faintly medicinal, woody edge. It's one of the four original cologne aromatics (with bergamot, lemon, and neroli) — the defining top of 4711, Acqua di Parma Colonia, and the entire Eau de Cologne tradition. Rosemary is also the soul of many Mediterranean masculine compositions, where it pairs naturally with lavender, cedar, and bergamot.
