Tuberose
Tuberose (Polianthes tuberosa) is a Mexican flower now grown primarily in India. Its absolute is one of the most expensive in perfumery and smells of creamy gardenia, butter, and a distinctly indolic, almost rotting-sweet richness. Tuberose is the defining note of the white-floral genre at its most opulent — Robert Piguet Fracas, Frederic Malle Carnal Flower, and Le Labo Tubereuse 40 all rest on it. It's a dose-sensitive note: at low levels it's bridal, at high levels it's operatic.
