Osmanthus
FloralModerate longevity
Osmanthus is a Chinese flower whose absolute smells of ripe apricot, peach skin, and a leathery, suede-like undertone — a uniquely 'fruity-leathery' floral. It's become a perfumery darling since Jean-Claude Ellena championed it at Hermès (the Osmanthe Yunnan series), and it appears in Ormonde Jayne Osmanthus, Armani Privé Osmanthe, and many niche compositions. Osmanthus is also the source of beta-damascenone, a key odorant in rose and many fruits.
